Bali Kino Berlin

Since opening in 1963, the cinema's main auditorium has remained largely unchanged. Its unique interior, featuring a circular star-studded ceiling, was designed to resemble a circus tent. The municipal cinema offers its audience international premieres, themed programmes, retrospectives, film talks and panel discussions, silent films with live music and children’s films, and serves as a venue for several festivals, such as the NIHRFF – Nuremberg International Human Rights Film Festival – and the Turkish-German Film Festival. Filmhaus Köln is an institution dedicated to film culture and a meeting place for audiences and the film community.

Up to seven different films are shown each day in two theaters at staggered times; on Sundays, there are sometimes nine. Filmkunst 66 usually shows dubbed versions (Mondays are for films with original audio and subtitles), but films for which no dubbed version exists also find their way into the program. Documentaries and children’s films are a regular part of the lineup. Berlin premieres and team premieres with audience Q&As take place regularly.

The Hasenheide cinema is the only open-air cinema in Germany to have had two stages since 2021. Since 1998, the Friedrichsbau has been run as an arthouse cinema. It is dedicated to sophisticated cinema from all over the world. The much-loved Summer Night Cinema, held in the cosy courtyard of the Schwarzes Kloster in July and August, is also organised by the Friedrichsbau. The Cologne Short Film Festival (KFFK) screens the latest short films at the Filmhaus, Filmforum, OFF Broadways, the Temporary Gallery, and the Lichtspiele Kalk. The festival features documentaries, fiction films, animated films, and hybrid formats, as well as VR productions and programs for both children and adults. The screenings take place in all weather conditions and use wireless headphones. The Rex-Lichtspieltheater was built in the early 1950s as a neighborhood cinema and reopened in 1981 by a group of students.

Since reopening in 2008, the cinema has presented a diverse program across two screening rooms, featuring European arthouse productions, independent films, and carefully selected blockbusters. With its stylish atmosphere, regular film series, and special events, the Scala has established itself as a popular meeting place for film lovers in Leverkusen.

Scala Cinema

Built in the 1950s, the Scala is the oldest operating cinema in Leverkusen.

From the café, visitors can enjoy a wonderful view over Bremen's Viertel district. The cinema's program focuses on new arthouse films from around the world, documentaries, sneak previews, and screenings in their original language. Special premieres are often accompanied by appearances from actors or directors.

The historic Schauburg is Bremen's largest arthouse cinema.

Sputnik Kino

Berlin's highest cinema (5th floor, no elevator) offers a fantastic view of the city.

The Studio Kino, located in the former mirror factory, screens original versions and hosts film series and festivals.
