Die My Love

Grace and Jackson, a young couple, move from New York to Montana to live in Jackson’s father’s empty house. What appears to be an idyllic country life turns into a trap of boredom and responsibility for the young mother. She is constantly needed, yet nobody needs her. She is almost always alone with the child. She is, above all, a body – a mother’s body. Adrift and without a anchor, she passes through a succession of fluctuating states of consciousness: playfulness, sensuality, depression, aggression, dissociation, delusion.

In her adaptation of Ariana Harwicz’s novel of the same name, Lynne Ramsay translates the eminently literary form of the inner monologue into an almost exclusively visual format.
