Luru Kino

The well-hidden arthouse cinema in the world-famous Alte Baumwollspinnerei art center. Starting November 12, 2026, the Cineville pass will also be valid at the Luru Kino.

The Spinnerei factory complex feels like a small factory town. Spread across approximately 6 hectares, it features over 20 individual buildings that today house galleries, studios, research labs, publishing houses, print shops, a guesthouse, a bakery, and a preschool, and serve as a home for numerous artists and media professionals, including Neo Rauch. In Hall 18J, you’ll find the small but charming Luru Cinema. The 60-seat theater, featuring the most beautiful retro wallpaper in Leipzig, offers a program that changes daily. In addition to current European arthouse films, the personally curated program also regularly features classics, political films, and genre films from the U.S.

With its spacious lobby, the cinema is a popular gathering place, not only for film fans but also for the Spinnerei’s artists and gallery owners, as well as residents and visitors to the factory complex.
